Formation
“Behold, like the clay in the potter’s hand, so are you in my hand, O house of Israel” (Jer 18:6) God is our Formator par excellence. He is our Divine Potter and we are clay in His hands. He is the molder and shaper of our souls in the way He wants us to be and to become. Humans respond to the Divine Action by way of surrender as Mary did in the mystery of Incarnation-Annunciation.
We ponder on how God formed the Founder, a diocesan priest to be the formator of the First Four and those who followed them. The four began to receive spiritual guidance from Fr Raymond. He “began to give them special religious instruction exhorting them for preliminary preparation to embrace Religious life.
The first four, “being of one, heart one mind with a firm resolve to follow Jesus …created a spiritual ambience in the house. Faithfulness to their prayer life, coupled with deep faith in God and openness to their Founder and to each other helped them to be unshakeable in the midst of the uncertainties of their future. One could say, here was another Christian community, praying, sharing, caring and bearing with one another in love. Eventually that attracted new vocations to the Congregation” (Ref: The First Four by Sr Theresine BS and Sr Esuria BS)
Formators are the human instruments that God uses in the forming of our spirit, mind and heart. Therefore, it is vital that the formators be persons of God experience, of right priorities, of emotional, moral and spiritual maturity. Formation can take place only in an atmosphere of love, care and freedom.
