Bethany Convent, Burari (14.07.2012)

Bethany Convent at Burari, Delhi, was blessed by Most Rev. Vincent Concessao, the Archbishop of Delhi, and inaugurated by Sr Maria Leena, the Provincial Superior, on 14 July 2012. Sr Veena D’ Souza, the Superior, Sr Yvonne Mary and Sr Leena Coutino formed the pioneering community. With many ambitious futures plans the sisters started their mission there initially just by their presence. From 2015 July this house was turned into a formation house and Sr Veronica Monteiro was the first candidate directress.

Sisters are passionately involved in the Pastoral, Social, Medical Ministry.  They conduct family prayers, BEC prayer meetings, home mission and youth programmes. They run non-formal education Centres, SHG centres. Women empowerment programmes, work for the Migrants and have linkage with GO’s and NGO’s. Sisters carry on Socio – Medical Apostolate through ‘Sparsh Bethany Health Centre’.

SPARSH Bethany Health Centre is situated at Salempur Mazra North Delhi, on the bank of Yamuna River. It’s the green belt of Delhi and lots of cultivation takes place. The place also gets flooded during monsoon. The area is beautiful but people lack basic facilities like health, sanitation, and education. Since it is the outskirts of Delhi no proper facilities exist. SPARSH Bethany Health Centre is the integrated Holistic health Centre of Northern Province and Branch of Bethany Social Service Society Punjab. This was born during Covid-19 pandemic on 4th September 2019 under the leadership of Sr Preeti Margaret, the Superior and inaugurated by Sr. Erasma the Provincial Superior of Northern Province. This newly established health centre renders special care of mental health. SPARSH is currently working in 2 Districts namely North Delhi-Alipur & Central district Daryaganj,in rural and urban development. It continually strives to collaborate and do linkage with GO &  NGO for a sustainable progress.

Objectives of Sparsh Bethany Heath centre

To provide Eco friendly environment, Ayurvedic health camps for migrants, Physio therapy, counselling, referral case to government hospitals and Health camps. Sparsh Bethany centre is rendering its medical services to the villages of Burri. It helps the alcoholics, drug addicts, elderly and differently able people. The centre has introduced Alternative system of Medicine, Ayurveda and Yoga, Mind- Body intervention therapy, Physio therapy, and energy therapies.  Pro-life, Geriatric care, School health programme for children is conducted. Sparsh Bethany centre is rendering its medical services to the villages of Burri. At present Sr Florette Hembrom BS is the Superior of Bethany Convent, Burari. She along the pastoral medical care the migrants, the marginalised and the suffering humanity is taken are with compassion and passion.
